This 1926 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom bungalow in Independence, MO was purchased from foreclosure. The house was structurally in good condition and had undergone some recent renovations but had also seen some neglect in the last few years. It included a one car attached garage and a full basement, as well as a 10' x 33' useable attic space with over 7' of headroom which was converted into a new master suite. The house boasts much larger rooms than are typical of a house of this vintage. The exterior already had newer siding and a new roof, so only needed a face lift to the front porch, some landscaping and a new coat of paint. The interior remodel included new hardwood and ceramic tile floors throughout the house, moving a few doors to make the floor plan flow better and reworking the existing kitchen and downstairs bath which already had new fixtures and cabinets. The house was completely rewired and re-plumbed and some of the HVAC system was in need of updating. The original millwork was salvaged where possible as well as bringing the original windows and front door back into a "fully operational" status. New paint was applied everywhere and new hardware was installed throughout the house. With the addition of the master suite in the upstairs "half story" the house became a 3 bedroom / 2 bath with a one car attached garage. |
